I'm been trying to figure out this serialize hashtable and saving/loading to disk business for quite some time now. When i called the method 'saveDataToDisk', I pass it a hashtable object that I created.

It saves and seems to be working fine, and then when I try to load it back, it jumps to the catch block when it reads this

ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream("/dev/null"));.

The error output is below, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance fellas.

I have used similar kind of code .... may be this can help you . And its working properly

For Saving : Where requestDataMap is a HashMap

File directoryName = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),"/folder1/subfolder");
    directoryName.mkdirs();
    File outputFile = new File(directoryName, filename);
    FileOutputStream fos;

    try {

        fos = new FileOutputStream(outputFile);

        ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(fos);

        out.writeObject(requestDataMap);
        fos.flush();
        fos.close();

For loading

HashMap<String, Object> requestDataMap=new HashMap<String, Object>();
    File directoryName = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),"/folder1/subfolder1");
    directoryName.mkdirs();
    File outputFile = new File(directoryName,fileName);
    FileInputStream fis;
    try {
        fis = new FileInputStream(outputFile);
            ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(fis);
            requestDataMap = (HashMap<String, Object>) ois.readObject();
            ois.close();

It totally depends on you weather u want to use same folder for all application or different . Please close the question if ur problem is solved . –  Code_Life Nov 16 '11 at 8:38
