when i compile.

What's the type of full_license_claimed_current_status? If it's your own, show us the defined operators. –  wormsparty Nov 18 '11 at 11:19

Then try == "2", although I'm never sure if the equality operator on strings is okay or not. –  wormsparty Nov 18 '11 at 11:38

Did you try with brackets?

if ((ui.validateInput->text() == full_license_number) && (full_license_claimed_current_status == 2))

Also what are the types of full_license_number and full_license_claimed_current_status?

full_license_number and full_license_claimed_current_status are strings. –  Gandalf Nov 18 '11 at 11:26
