I am currently using the AndEngine and doing a XML parser and using it as a level creator.

I have tried various methods to read the .xml file but I keep receiving an IOException null when I debug it.

I got the MinimizeXMLParser and TagHandler off a tutorial on the AndEngine forum. http://www.andengine.org/forums/post25335.html#p25335

Tried to use

InputSource is = new InputSource(getResources().openRawResource(R.raw.level));

instead of

File file = new File("assets/levelsxml/level.xml");
        InputStream inputStream = new FileInputStream(file);
        InputSource is = new InputSource(inputStream);
        is.setEncoding("UTF-8");

It produced an Exception instead of an IOException. However, the same fatal exception still occurs when I try to call e.printStackTrace();

Hope someone is able to help :)

@Pratik @ stratwine I have added in the error that I get when I use e.printStackTrace(). It seems that when I run that line, it is unable to even finish loading. It just dies at the line of e.printStackTrace(). –  lightmind Nov 29 '11 at 13:11
    
you got the error at com.InTheDark.InTheDarkActivity.onLoadScene(InTheDarkActivity.java:263) line, write comment at the end of this line –  Pratik Nov 29 '11 at 13:31
