So I've been trying to learn CUDA as of late, but am currently stuck and don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am trying to set the initial value of the opool array based on a random float between 0 and 1. If anyone could shed some light on what I did wrong it would be greatly appreciated.

Note - I omitted some code for brevity (cudaFree() & free() calls mainly). I apologize if I left any code of importance out.

what are your errors? compiler? linker? unexpected behaviour? details please. You could try doing something very simple and non-random for a start to assist with troubleshooting. – axon Dec 14 '11 at 2:00
    
Everything compiles correctly, but unexpected behavior occurs. Something unexpected is happening within the kernel FirstLoop function. Every element of opool should be set to either 5 or 15. When printing each element within opool to the screen, they are way off (something like 10932812). – Ronnie Dec 14 '11 at 2:05
    
Are you checking the return codes from the cuda calls and kernel execution? – flipchart Dec 14 '11 at 4:16

Change the following

int index = omax*tid_loci*2 + omax*tid_2 + bid_omax;

to

int index = bid_omax * tid_2 + tid_loci;

However a block configuration of 10x2 may not be the most ideal one. Try using 32 x 1 or 16 x 2.
