Most of the how do write Java example X in Clojure examples I've seen are neat snippets or algorithms. I'm wondering how to construct programs with Clojure. My working Java example is only 81 lines, but shows a User object which interacts with a MessageServer object. Additionally loads objects from a space-delimited text file. Also can imagine having to add more fields and methods on User.

How do I write this Java program in idiomatic Clojure?

Very cool! Are there dependencies I need to install? I am using Clojure 1.3. I get errors for io and csv not existing. –  user468687 Dec 28 '11 at 12:30
    
Yes, it's suppose to run. Are you using leiningen? Otherwise you should look at github.com/technomancy/leiningen . You'll need to add [org.clojure/data.csv "0.1.0"] to your dependencies. –  Jonas Dec 28 '11 at 12:41

In addition to the record created by (defrecord User [...]) two functions (->User and map->User) are defined. You can read about them here (under Generated Factory Functions). It's not yet well documented but might be soon –  Jonas Dec 28 '11 at 17:09
    
hey i've changed your example so it doesn't include any dependencies. also fixed a bug in text function if you text the wrong number so the agent doesn't become nil, and instead remains unchanged. let me know what you think! –  user468687 Dec 29 '11 at 2:09
