I have the Ruby code below, I am using windows API calls and I should be able to use the function GetDIBits to retrieve an array of RGB values from the bitmap that I have created, to be used for AI processing. I need to give the GetDIBits function a BITMAPINFO structure as well as a few other variables. I should be okay with the other variables, but how do you create a structure in ruby (using the Windows API) that can be used for this function?

If you can complete the GetDIBits function so that I can retrive a array of RGB values, I would greatly appreciate it.

There are lots of things wrong with this code. I'll see if I can get it working myself. What is the end goal? Where does the image come from? –  David Grayson Jan 1 '12 at 3:15
    
The end goal is to have an array in ruby with the values of pixels that make up the screen. The image comes from the screen –  marscom Jan 1 '12 at 3:41

This code seems to get some data, though I haven't looked at carefully enough to tell if it is colors from the screen:

Thats beautiful and looks like it could really work... can you get the pixel hex values into a 3 digit array of 3 values (RGB)? Either that or a single value for the pixels colour? I'll look at this tomorrow morning (just off to bed) but I may be able to retrieve a value such as the one above from these hex values. Cheers –  marscom Jan 1 '12 at 5:21
