Apologies in advance, but I'm new to most of this so I might not get my terms or concepts quite right.

That said, I'm fairly certain that SQLA is the right tool so any input is greatly appreciated.

Here is a generic piece of code that I've taken from a posting on here which I've tried to expand upon to suit my own needs. The solution was never posted that I could find and I am receiving the same error as the initial posting (AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'append'.

I have a large parent table of pretty dirty data (lots of NULLS) that I could like to break out into sets into order to normalize and interpolate where possible and even hopefully fix in places. More specifically, I have flat file in sqlite, say raw_data. I could like to break this out into a set with a 1-to-1 relation to the parent raw_data. I would also like to break out a number of other many-to-1 sets and then have the data cascade to the child sets so that missing fields could be interpolated or fixed eg, Harvard NULL, NY.

I'm running python 2.7.2, sqla 0.7.4 on ubuntu 11.10, else windows 7.

Apologies- I didn't see that someone had responded. My question was how to resolve the attribute error that was being thrown, but more generally if my schema is properly configured. I'm utterly self-taught so I can only assume there's a better way- one that actually works. Let me know if you need to know more or the non-generic scripts would be of more use.
