I have a NSData of bytes from where I want to subtract a string. The NSData object looks like this

I want to extract everything from the first occurrence of "40 00 00 00" to the first occurrence of "34"

How can I do that?

Not sure which bytes you want, here is extracted data in the range between "40 00 00 00" to the first occurrence of "34" and the data with that range removed:

The first output is what I need (extractData). It extracts exactly what I need, but crashes at the end of the function (malloc: *** error for object 0xbfffd6cf: pointer being freed was not allocated). Do you know what is it? – Marc Jan 16 '12 at 9:04
    
Adding freeWhenDone:NOin the startData and stopData declaration solved the issue. – Marc Jan 17 '12 at 18:27
    
Oops, I should not have used the NoCopy version, that requires the character arrays to have been allocated with malloc. Fixed. – zaph Jan 17 '12 at 23:37
