I have a little problem. I have searched the internet everywhere, and I can't find how to set an image in a rectangle. It seems fairly simple, but I am just getting into game programming, and I can't seem to find an explanation on this. I was referred to this site by somebody in Y! Ansers, and I think you guys might be able to help. I have this code:

Currently I am just filling the p1 rectangle with the color red. I have an image of a car, and want to replace the red with the car. Any notes on how to do this?

** EDIT ** I found my answer. Using isah's g.drawImage, combined with the toolkit for getting the image, I was able to do this. I am leaving this up for anybody who wants to know.

Wow! 372 lines of code to draw a few Rectangle instances and show how you cannot load or draw an image by not doing either. For better help sooner, post an SSCCE. But a textual description of the problem would probably suffice in this case (as it seems from Max's answer). –  Andrew Thompson Jan 17 '12 at 5:42

How about drawImage. Take a look at this tutorial.

If you want to paint an image in the obstacle2 Rectangle. Assuming you already loaded the image in the img variable, you could do:

g.drawImage(img, obstacle2.x, obstacle2.y, obstacle2.width, obstacle2.height, null);

I added the image img the only way i know of (ImageIcon) and the compiler says an image icon can't be converted to an image. How else can I add an image? I have never had to add an image differently. –  Nick Catlin Jan 17 '12 at 22:29
