First, here is some working code for a stopwatch in Xcode. I got two buttons, Startand Stop. Their titles change when the buttons are pressed. Now I want to add a pause functionality. I know that there are many threads about this, but (I don't know why) I was not able to get it working.

So what is the best approach to implement this function in my code?

I already tried to use a pause date and subtract it from my NSTimeIntervalbut got negative values ...

Yes, but I could not find any code! In theory I know, but it does not work. Thought that I would post a code which works could help someone ... shall I delete it? –  DAS Jan 19 '12 at 7:51

There is no pause/resume functionality built into NSTimer, so you have to implement something along the lines of:

Could it be that you confused onUnpause and onReset? –  DAS Jan 19 '12 at 9:34
    
No - onUnpause resumes a paused timer. onReset is meant as a final stop - when you cannot resume the timer again. I'll add more comments to the code to make it clearer. –  Peter Sarnowski Jan 19 '12 at 10:19
    
I updated my question. Could you overwrite your code with my code and do additional things? I do not understand how to update the label in the onTimer method. Say the IBOutlet is label.text = ... –  DAS Jan 19 '12 at 11:05
