I'm making a simple test app that navigates a category tree. Whenever I try to split the table view into multiple sections, I get a SIGABRT with no helpful call stack, and this:

Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[__NSArrayI objectAtIndex:]: index 1 beyond bounds [0 .. 0]'

I've put breakpoints pretty much everywhere. Everything works properly when numberOfSectionsInTableView returns 1, but when it returns 2 that's as far as it gets - no other breakpoints are hit. I've set a breakpoint at every call I'm making to objectAtIndex, and I have no idea where the problem is.

Can anyone find the problem? I'm hoping it's something obvious that I'm missing and not a serious issue.

My initialization for the two identical NSArrays is in viewDidLoad.

My best guess is that you aren't adding the new sections and rows?

See UITableView's insertSections: and insertRowsAtIndexPaths:

Of course, you may be doing this elsewhere and I don't realize it...

Hm... I thought the UITableViewDataSource handled that? 'Course, I just moved to Xcode 4 and I have no idea what's new. –  minitech Jan 24 '12 at 21:49
