I'm trying to parse an .x file for use with DirectX. I wrote a .x parser class, now I am trying to override the ParseObject function of the parser class so that I may load a mesh file(.x). When I use the D3DXLoadMeshFromXof function, the program throws an exception and crashes. Also, I am using tiger.x from the DirectX June 2010 SDK! I have tried opening other files...some open correctly, others will cause a failure from the CreateEnumObject function...When trying to open the tiger.x file, the program throws an exception after I try to copy the materials from the material buffer in cXMeshParser.cpp:

LPD3DXMATERIAL pMat = (LPD3DXMATERIAL)pMaterials->GetBufferPointer();

Any ideas?
