i have an application where i am trying to calculate 2 column values by performing calculations on rest of columns.Initially in the querystring i am retreiving i am passing the select query to retreive all the rows from the table.Then i am passing an sqlite_step to retreive rows of my table and updating my table.But the problem initially for the first row it gets into the sqlite_step and performs calculation and makes the loop to true and gets back to sqlite_step to fetch the next row but the problem is when it gets in sqlite3_step ==SQLITE_ROW it directly goes to sqlite3_finalise without getting into the loop and fetching the next row.What may be the problem.This is my code:

//initially i am fetching here from my table PenaltyTransaction table and if it gets the first row i am making my loop to true so that next time it will not check the first row .the problem here is when the loop changes to true and when it returns backs to while(sqlite3_step)==SQLITE_ROW it directly jumps of the loop and executes the finalise statement.It does not gets into the sqlite3_step even if row is present in it.What is the problem.Thanks

This is just a guess because the code is quite complex... but when loop is TRUE it seems you are stepping again when setting secondTimeId. So you are double-stepping here which I don't think you want to do. This is how your while loops looks with some code removed:

As you can see, nothing will run after if (sqlite3_step(compiledStatement)== SQLITE_ROW) if there isn't a row here, so it will in fact jump to finalize (but firstTimeId should be set).

No, the problem is if (sqlite3_step(compiledStatement)== SQLITE_ROW) is executed after while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) so you are in a sense doing: sqlite3_step(compiledStatement); sqlite3_step(compiledStatement);. I can't get into detail what you need to do instead, because there is too much going on. –  vakio Feb 8 '12 at 11:09
    
@vaiko my problem is am having database table named PenaltyTransaction which contains 9 columns in it. the column name is alarmid,alarmtime,penaltytype,penaltyamt,currentbal,newbal,snoozetime,snoozefact‌​or and snoozefactorindex.In the last 2 columns no data is inserted until this method is called and calculations are performed.I am trying to initially select all rows from Penaltytable and saving in queryString and then i am using sqlite3_step so that it will loop through all the rows in my table and in the sqlite_step loop i am performing another check for getting 1st row. –  Rani Feb 8 '12 at 11:23
    
@vaiko i am creating a bool variable named loop .When sqlite_step gets the first row the loop becomes false so that when it comes back to sqlite_step and perform check on another row then it should get the loop as true and it should go to the else part which after the loop = true, so that calculations of row are done properly.But when it gets the first row it gets properly in the sqlite3_step and when the loop becomes true it directly skips of the sqlite_step without checking the next row –  Rani Feb 8 '12 at 11:27
