I have written a program that is compiled and run in Netbeans and Eclipse without any problem. But when I try to compile it in command line via:

javac -classpath .:lucene-core-3.4.0.jar Indexer.java

I get the error:

Note: Indexer.java uses or overrides a deprecated API.
Note: Recompile with -Xlint:deprecation for details.

When I try to compile with -Xlint:deprecation option I get:

javac -classpath .:lucene-core-3.4.0.jar Indexer.java -Xlint:deprecation

I don't think it's an error, its just a warning. you can still compile and run your code – Sunil Kumar B M Feb 13 '12 at 9:21
that's a warning, not an error... and netbeans or eclipse will show you the warning (in eclipse the line is underline in yellow)... It doesn't mean the compilation didn't succeed... – Vinze Feb 13 '12 at 9:21

If you can't run it, must be for something else... What error do you get when you try to run it? Also, try putting a log message in your first line of execution and see if it gets printed... – Alberto Gutierrez Feb 13 '12 at 10:23

org.apache.lucene.index.IndexWriter.MaxFieldLength is deprecated and should not be used any more, see https://lucene.apache.org/core/old_versioned_docs/versions/3_4_0/api/all/org/apache/lucene/index/IndexWriter.MaxFieldLength.html#IndexWriter.MaxFieldLength%28int%29

It's just a warning. You may use it, but it's not recommended.

Yes, if you look at my code you will see @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") I think I didn't paid attention to the class file. I just ran that class file and everything was OK! By the way, thank you for helping me ;) – emab Feb 16 '12 at 19:21
