I'm trying to modify a Google Code Javascript file so that I can gain experience on link visit. I'm new to javascript and I don't really know how to phrase what I am trying to do. I think it should look something like this :

var exp = 0 //Current exp
var level = 1; // User Level
var tolvl = level * 100 //Exp to 'level up'

function expchange (exp) {
  if (urlToCount <= 1) { //if they have visited the link once today

I'm probably doing something horridly wrong, sorry for the bad scripting. Thanks for your help

Having read and re-read your code, I think you want something like this. Not sure about the tolvl calculation, but the rest should show you where and how to change

This is exactly what i'm looking for but its still not working... Is urlToCount what i need to use? it seems logical. I have done beginner and intermediate tutorials. I still make alot of mistakes though, sorry. –  Zeinir Feb 19 '12 at 6:42
    
I do not understand your code - I do not see any level and I do not see where you use exp. I change urlToCount to urlToCount[url] by the way –  mplungjan Feb 19 '12 at 8:16
    
Well, its a simple script that fetches the history data and sorts it by number of times visited. Var = exp and Var = level are where i used level and exp, then i usead a couple of document.witre's to print it to the gui of the extension. –  Zeinir Feb 19 '12 at 14:29
    
The code you provided does not use exp or level anywhere outside where you set them. Document.write after load will WIPE the page –  mplungjan Feb 19 '12 at 16:11
    
They are not used because I don't think i need them outside of the if..else statements. And what do I need to put in either the html or .js to display exp and level? –  Zeinir Feb 19 '12 at 16:58
