I am a new starter for reverse engineering and I wish to learn more, I tried to disassemble a target exe where I come across some functions that I couldn't really interpret. Hopefully someone help could lend a helping hand.

The part from address 00161057 to 00161093 is where I don't really understand how thing goes. The rest was just calling different APIs so nothing much with it.(Filename is removed)

I really appreciate if someone could explain the bolded part to me.

l think instruction on address 00161057 is a function with 3 parameters cuz when ESP is used as a parameter, it is usually 4 bytes(DWORD). Now C in decimal is 12. Now, the content ESP+C(c as an offset) refers to the 3rd parameter and it is stored in ECX, then the content of ECX+8 is copied to EAX and think EAX+8 is a global variable. Anyway my opinion can still be improved by someone else if l mistake.

However, you can read x86 disassembly by wikibook and addressing mode for the MOV EAX,DWORD PTR DS:[ECX+8] instruction
