I'm trying to implement barcode scan feature on windows phone. I set a timer, every other interval, I use the photo camera api to get a frame from camera and decode it using zxing( http://zxingnet.codeplex.com/). I basically follow steps in this two articles. http://jonas.follesoe.no/2011/07/22/qr-code-scanning-on-windows-phone-75-using-zxlib/ http://www.m0sand.com/henningms/?p=324 But the problem is, for qr code, the app can decode very quickly. But for upc code, it takes long time to decode, and a lot of times, it doesn't return any result. Following is my code. Here's the xaml file:

If you set the POSSIBLE_FORMATS to only UPC do you have better performance and results? Have you tried using a UPCAReader or UPCEANReader rather than the MultiFormatReader, does that produce improved performance and results? –  Paul Diston Mar 23 '12 at 9:17
