I was able to resolve this using the designer. Open the Model Browser. Find the view in the diagram. Right click on the primary key, and make sure "Entity Key" is checked. Unless the view is indexed, it takes up almost no space, except for the definition of the view. The view itself is not like a table in that it physically stores rows in the database (unless it is an indexed view). It is only materialized (retrieves data) when it is called

It's a View, if you have a read of that link, Microsoft do a good job of explaining what a view is and why someone might use one. "vw" is a common prefix for a View. No it can't and I think a stored procedure is your only option here. Maybe you could put it in a particular schema or naming convention (e.g. prefix with __ so it's sorted at the top) to make it more visible. You can't make this view indexed. Basically, you are having an aggregate function here (disguised as CROSS APPLY).
