@innpSPG * point is an array, while fx0 is a scalar. I added the declarations in the code. * After the computation of the gradient, I will later reuse point. So when an iteration of the loop finish, I write back the original coordinate value to point. This is a bump-and-revalue scheme. If I don't do the write back, all the coordinates in point will be off by 1e-4. Also, as the gradient loop goes, the gradient will become incorrect without a write back. * The input array is randomly filled. I can make sure my fix step of 1e-4 is small enough.

@KerrekSB Thanks Kerrek, your comment made me realized. The theorem says to perform the substitution (1 + x)^n p( (a + b x) / (1 + x) ). This implies that there is no division, and I can adapt Horner.
