@Luc Danton The number is not always the same. The number of argument types is equal to the number of member variables contained in that class (If I have two member variables, the zip iterator will be composed of two iterators). And yes, the iterators that constitute it are always found from calling begin/end on a container. The zip_iterator that I'm using in my real code is this one thrust zip iterator

@Luc Danton It's my fault for not writing a more accurate description of my problem. In my actual code the base classes have the option of instantiating the containers as variables (based on some template argument). See my edit for further info.

@Dave S Sometimes it is sometimes it is not. More than often the member types are quire random so I can't really create a nice hierarchy between the families.
