Using Newton Raphson for Root Finding and Parameters' Estimation in Matlab
My issue is this, I have this eqn Z^3-(1-B)Z^2+(A-3B^2-2B)Z-(AB-B^2-B^3)=0 where A=aP/R^2T^2, B=bP/RT, b=sum(xibi) and a=sumsum(xixjaij). A and B have physical parameters to be tuned. I have written matlab code to solve this cubic equation using newton raphson with initial guess. I have experimental data so I want to incorporate optimisation of the parameters (tuning) in the equation so as to be able to predict accurately under different conditions. Please if fminsearch can do this how do I incorporate it into the code? Thanks. Isa |

Thanks for the answer. What I want to achieve is using polyfit to get a straight line within y(17:20) so that I can calculate the slope and intercept of the straight at that region of the original data curve. |

Thanks. I am sorry for taking your time. I ran the code, when I type Z in the command window to get Z values it gives error "Z Undefined function or variable 'Z'. The same thing if I type V in the command window, V Undefined function or variable 'V'. |

Thanks, What I mean when I run the code, V is 1 by 4 matrix and Z is 4 by 4 matrix with 12 zeros. I have included the missing parameters. Please run it and check for Z and V. |
