Yes, the problem was coming from the diff function, which I thought to be the same in both libraries. Indeed, the solution of numpy seems to be different from that of sympy (although in this last case, the solutions are calculated numerically using nsolve, or have I misunderstood the scope of this function?). Besides, depending on the value of eps, I have different solutions: with the value you gave me, I had a warning relative to RuntimeWarning but the set of solutions seem to stabilize for eps<1e-18, which is anyway different from the above solution with sympy.

Yes, I'm experiencing problems with nsolve in some situations right now. And the program seems to take much more time to be executed than the equivalent in Mathematica. Is it normal? Do you know if Numpy/Scipy are better than Sympy?

I used a for loop on uniformly distributed values (as initial guesses) over [0, pi] (i*pi/4, i in range(5)) and I kept track of the solutions in a list. If you try it you can see that you may have the same solution for different i. What I find strange though is that I get 9.42 as a solution for i=1 but if you keep only values in [0,pi] you end up by 2 solutions.

Yes, sorry I understand now the error. I should read the tutorial on sympy, I will definitely need it! But your suggestion didn't work actually. This worked instead: F_thetatheta(theta,phi,phi0,H0).subs(theta,pi/2)

I actually tried it with a for loop and it works fine. Hope to see the algorithms to solve symbolically this kind of equations implemented soon!

Yes, I see. I tried with other functions, and I get sometimes the exact same solution multiple times or some values which are near to each other as you mentioned. I will take this into account for storing the data.
