I had to git config core.autocrlf false and git reset --hard to get my ffmpeg to configure. Seems common.mak wasn't the only file with problems.

C99 long long has a minimum size of 64 bits and as far as I know is 64 bit on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. I haven't seen general support for quad or octo ints.

@cforbish Here's the thing: If I'm actually searching for something, then I want to see the highlight as I step through the results. But if the search immediately gets me to where I want, or close enough, I want to immediately switch to normal/edit mode with the cursor on the search term without the distracting highlight. If there was a way to make canceling the search just not reset the cursor position that'd be perfect.

I'd rather not have to press extra keys to turn off a mode I didn't want to turn on in the first place (the search), but thanks for pointing out <leader> -- wasn't aware that existed.

Right, but doing this every time I search is a huge pain. I use search like this to move around a file -- goal is to make it as quick as possible.

@GarrickW Would it be possible to make a minimal complete sample that demonstrates the issue? I'm thinking the problem may be somewhere else in the code as I'm not seeing anything grossly wrong with what you have posted. 50fps with that low of a triangle count sounds like something unexpected is happening, like GL errors that aren't being catched or buffer overruns. What happens if you draw half of the array (glDrawArrays(GL_TRIANGLES, 0, m_ArraySize/2);)?

I'd expect a lot more performance than that out of a GTX660M. I can render half a million triangles at 200+FPS on a similar card.

What happens to the performance if you comment out the glPushMatrix(), glTranslate(), and glMultMatrix() calls? Usually if you're using shaders you just do all the math there instead of using the fixed function routines as well. The fixed function stuff will probably execute on the cpu which is slow.

@SchighSchagh meas2 and meas3 inherit virtually from meas, so only meas2 and meas3 are needed in the final zipper. There's std::is_base_of to check this.

You can also run your kernel in the compute visual profiler -- it'll in the occupancy analysis tab it'll show you how much shared memory and registers a kernel uses, and from that, how many blocks ran concurrently on each multiprocessor.

Why do you want to use globals instead of passing the device pointer as an argument to the kernel? Doing so just gives you all the same limitations as using global memory in CPU code, with little advantage.

Of note, max_size() is defined relative to the size of size_t, which is relative to the bit size of your platform. It's defined this way to allow for a string to be as large as your platform can address.
