PHP Web Developer for our New York (SoHo) office

We are seeking well-rounded PHP developers for temp-to-perm positions. You need to think like a user, be passionate about coding and excited about building a photo and video crowd-sourcing platform that is going to be used by millions of users and syndicated in hundreds of large media sites.

We are about to launch our beta and we already have partnerships several large media outlets (NY Daily News -5th largest newspaper in the US- is one of our launching partners, you can see a 1min demo of our product here: http://goo.gl/dZiZt). These initial partners plus other content sites we are in talks with (publications, brands, sport teams, etc) will grant exposure of our product to millions of users from the moment we launch.

This is a hands-on position that will require you to be very proactive but will also allow a great deal of creative freedom to develop new features. We are a team of international engineers and MBA's and As the company is still young, you will play a critical role defining the personality of the product, the culture at the company and it represents a great opportunity to grow professionally as the company expands.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Develop new features and integrate existing ones with new partners
Get your hands dirty supporting, enhancing, and extending the existing platform
Enable integration with partners by building appropriate data integration (APIs and plug-ins) with main distribution platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, Tumblr, etc) and other CMS.
Coordinate with third-party application development contractors and consultants (if needed).


Required qualifications

Fluency in PHP 5, MySQL and the LAMP stack (at least 3 yeas of relevant professional experience)
Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming
Deep knowledge of MySQL optimization and database structures
PHP optimization and integration with HTML/CSS/JS
Experience with some JS Framework, JQuery a plus
Experience working on high volume websites

Bonus Points:

Cloud server architectures
Scalability and web services and databases optimization
Database replication, server farms and data transfer optimization

We are looking for someone to join us full time in our NYC office based in SoHo that we share with other cool internet startups.

If you are international, you will need to be able to travel to the US for a period of at leas 3 months. We can help with housing and all that stuff.
