Senior Software Engineer

Monsoon is looking for a superstar to fill the role of Senior Software Engineer. The right candidate will be a technical virtuoso with 8+ years of experience including technical leadership roles on Agile development teams.  You have deep experience building enterprise class software on a variety of platforms including Windows .NET,
Java, LAMP, etc. You’re the go to person on your team to whom everyone looks to drive the team to the right solution. You’re not an architecture astronaut but someone who always finds the right balance between thinking deeply about hard problems and digging in to get the job done, no matter what it takes.

The Senior Software Engineer will be a leader on the software development team - designing, implementing, and maintaining Monsoon's core software products written in .NET and our Ruby on Rails web infrastructure. You will quickly become an integral part of this highly effective team of senior developers, architects, and testers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following; other duties may be assigned.
• Use TDD, Unit Testing, Continuous Integration, Collective Code Ownership, Refactoring, and other Agile methods to continuously deliver maximum value solutions on tight iteration schedules.
• Design, implement and maintain enterprise class client/server components written in C#/.NET and Ruby.
• Use SQL Server, MySQL, and NoSQL databases with ORM layers for efficient data storage.
• Drive major design decisions while making appropriate trade-offs between scope, quality, timeliness and maintainability.
• Mentor junior developers as necessary, providing design guidance and assisting them in developing new skills.
• Facilitate communication upward and across project team including project status, deliverable dates, and technical information such as architecture, design, and implementation objectives.
• Assist your manager and the VP of Technology in actively reviewing and advising on relevant development technologies and methodologies.
• Drive the continuous improvement of internal architectural frameworks and development process.
• Collaborate with Product Managers in defining product functionality and provide technical feedback in order to arrive at optimal solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years development experience in C#/Java/C++/Ruby.
• Extensive experience with Agile development methodologies such as Extreme Programming and Scrum.
• Proven track record delivering high-performance, reliable, secure, scalable applications and application platforms.
• Expert in Object-Oriented Design, Domain Driven Design, GoF Patterns
• Significant experience developing .NET Windows desktop applications.
• TCP/IP networking concepts and applications, including HTTP, FTP and other Internet protocols.
• Expert in relational database design, performance tuning, and implementation using SQL Server and/or MySQL. NoSQL db experience a plus.
• Willingness to be on call during off-hours to assist in resolving high-priority customer problems.
• BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
