Brightcove is looking for a highly qualified Principal Software Engineer with experience in the areas of Analytics, Data Warehousing and/or Data Mining to join the Seattle Reporting and Analytics team. As a member of the team, you will design, develop and maintain large pieces of our Next Generation Reporting and Analytics engine, which will be initially used to power our soon to be released App Cloud product. The team has some fascinating challenges ahead, related to data collection, aggregation, consumption, near real-time delivery and visualization. 

We're looking for a self starter individual, with some level of leadership skills, that will be able to contribute within our self managed and self empowered culture. At Brightcove, Engineers must wear multiple hats, you design it, you build it, you test it and you support it (with the help of customer service.)  At Brightcove, Engineers ultimately own the product, so individual must be able to loudly voice opinions when it comes to doing the right thing for the product. We're looking for someone that will thrive in a startup-esque environment with constant change.

• 5+ years of experience building Internet distributed systems
• 1-2 years working on Big Data problems and related technologies:  Hadoop, Map-Reduce, HBase, Hive, MongoDB
• Strong experience in Java;  Ruby / Rails a big plus.
• Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Team player attitude.
