General Summary:
The Front End Software Development Engineer is responsible for developing software applications to support our smart devices initiative that establish strong 1:1 relationships with the consumer and will further facilitate the development of technologies to lead our water and lawns platform forward towards the next generation of landscapes. This role is critical in updating and developing cutting edge front end systems that allow flexibility for the user while helping them become more successful in the lawn and garden. This role will support software and technology development for Fertigation, Hydro Systems, Smart Irrigation Controllers, and other connected devices.
The Front End Software Development Engineer designs the software that is directly visible to the user, either in a mobile, tablet application, or in a web browser window. These are layers of software that primarily deal with information presentation and visualization and user interactions.
These components of software design are becoming the most important digital properties of a consumer brand or product. It's also important to recognize that these products are not static, but always evolving, dynamic parts of the overall product.
The core responsibility of the Front End Software Development Engineer is to build these parts of software with excellence. The skill sets required straddle technology, visual design, user experience and interactions that result in fluid delightful user experience.
Key Work Performed:
- Develop modern, hybrid mobile applications and web apps.
- Significantly contribute to and participate in iterative product design.
- Build maintainable, well structured, documented and highly performant codebase.
- Comprehensively unit test and lead front-end QA automation.
- Monitor and analyze usage and performance metrics and trends.
- Evaluate needs of the organization and develop platform technologies to meet those needs and aid in product development and analyze technical complexities.
- Must have the knowledge to understand technology capabilities and hurdles and adapt thinking and approach to satisfy the business needs.
Skills & requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or other similar field required, including formal Statistics course work.
- 5+ years of Software Development experience, with at least 2 years experience with position’s respective technical requirements.
- Proficient in current JavaScript.
- Experience with Angular and/or React required.
- Experience building hybrid mobile apps with PhoneGap/Cordova and Python.
- Continuous integration practices and tools, build tooling.
- API design.
- Responsive web design, accessibility design.
- DevOps practices, performance and quality monitoring, QA automation.
- Good user experience design and content strategy.
- Data analytics and visualization skills.
- Angular 2 and TypeScript experience.
- Experience with Ionic framework and/or React Native.
