You are someone who is passionate about developing innovative algorithms and software solutions to address clinical challenges. As Algorithm Scientist, you will be responsible for applying image processing and machine learning techniques to a wide variety of challenging and interesting problems in pulmonary imaging. The algorithms you develop will be an integral part of VIDA’s leading lung image analysis software solution.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop, implement, and clinically validate image processing algorithms and libraries, including but not limited to:
- Identification and segmentation of pulmonary structures
- Detection of abnormalities
- Rigid and non-rigid registration
- Correction of data to variation of image acquisition protocols
- Analysis of temporal data
- Break down solutions into smaller manageable tasks with a quick implementation and verification time
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to integrate the algorithms into the final product as well as interact with physicians for the purpose of clinical validation, and publication
- Develop high quality and high performance software solutions in compliance with coding standards and technical design.
Skills & requirements
- PhD Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or MS in Engineering/related field and equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of development experience in image processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning techniques
- Strong algorithm development skills; knowledge depth and implementation experience of sophisticated image segmentation, image classification, image registration, and Computer Aided Detection/Diagnosis (CAD) algorithms
- Strong software skills, including:
- C++/C# object oriented programming, Python
- Understanding of data structures and complexity
- Debugging and optimization skills
- Capable of working effectively independently and in a team environment, assist co-workers, and have excellent communication skills; strong desire to help others
- Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented; able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Solid background in Mathematics, especially in probability, statistics, geometry, calculus, and linear algebra
- Creative mindset and a proven record of innovation
- Commercial experience developing state-of-the-art medical imaging algorithms
- Experience with big data analytics / deep learning techniques
- Experience in parallel programming, multithreading, GPGPU, OpenMP, SSE
- Proficiency with statistical analysis methods employed in clinical research including multi-variable statistical analysis, survival analysis, and ROC methods
- Experience with developing software in a full software lifecycle development
