VP of Engineering

Silversheet is looking for an experienced and hands-on VP of Engineering interested in a high impact role at a rapidly growing startup. You will join a team of seasoned healthcare and technology executives and senior engineers, and will oversee a platform with thousands of highly engaged users around the country. You must have a strong background in responsive web application development and a proven ability to provide technical leadership and strong process management.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role leading the engineering organization for one of the top funded healthcare startups in Los Angeles backed by A-List investors including Summation Health Ventures, Upfront Ventures, Rincon Venture Partners, Slow Ventures, and SV Angel.

What You’ll Do

• Recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent
• Hands-on coding, working alongside our Sr. Software Engineers to contribute to the codebase and make architectural decisions
• Manage an API integrating numerous data sources
• Estimate work effort and allocate engineering resources, enabling multiple simultaneous sprints across three functional products
• Work closely with Product, Customer Success, Sales, Marketing, and senior management to set the technical direction for the business and develop the engineering roadmap

Your Experience

• 6+ years of hands-on software development experience and 4+ years experience managing and leading engineering teams of various sizes
• Hands-on full-stack software development experience. You’ve designed and built architectures supporting responsive web clients from desktops down to mobile phones. You’re equally comfortable working on the back-end or front-end and building APIs.
• Mastery over the following core technical stack: Heroku, AWS S3, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Ruby, Rails, React, and Javascript
• Expert in software development best practices (Git, TDD, Testing/QA, Agile)
• Extremely strong cross-functional communicator and functional leader
• Strong manager who can successfully set and track goals, coach, and inspire a highly skilled distributed team of developers in Santa Monica and Portland.
• Passion for healthcare is a strong plus, this is an opportunity to have big impact on people’s lives.
• Degree in CS preferred, but not required with relevant professional experience

What We're Building

Silversheet is revolutionizing how healthcare facilities manage their workforce, and how healthcare professionals manage their own careers. We've started by tackling a complex and critical part of daily workflow – physician credentialing. Currently, healthcare administrators are faced with endless paperwork, faxing, and nagging, and physicians are on their own to figure out the complex credential renewal process and stay up-to-date at each facility where they maintain privileges.

Silversheet is a breath of fresh air. Facilities can add a new physician in minutes, automatically verify their credentials, and invite doctors to join, empowering them to maintain their qualifications and keep facilities up-to-date and in compliance.
