Do you love JVM-based programming languages? Does combining Functional & Object Oriented Programming excite you? What about reactive, distributed asynchronous technologies --> Do you enjoy designing and coding scalable systems? If so, we're on the right track!
You'll work with engineers, data scientists, and researchers around the world to build real-time distributed scalable systems. The goal here is to ensure the systems we're building meet the performance needs of a fast-paced research organization while protecting their IP and FTO by utilizing industry proven and standard security patterns as well as driving the creation of new standards and patterns where they do not yet exist.
You’ll join a team responsible for driving technology decisions (tools, protocols, languages, devices) for platforms that do not have a parallel in industry. The platforms you build will be used to accelerate and streamline the R&D pipeline for researchers across the globe.

● Design and scale our backend services globally
● Plan, lead and guide improvements and architecture in key discipline areas and in a global cross-function capacity
● Mentor across the organization on best practices and techniques
● Learn new technologies and frameworks to solve unique challenges in the an industry transforming through innovation and adoption of bleeding-edge technologies, systems, and tools.
● Deployment in large cloud-based distributed environments
● Hands-on experience developing robust back-end services and platforms
● Experience with a compiled JVM language (Clojure, Scala, or Java)
● Experience building scalable backend services (REST APIs, microservices, designing and implementing efficient data processing algorithms, messaging paradigms [JMS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS etc] middleware, persistent store)
● Experience working with AWS [EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, etc] or another public Cloud platform [GCP]
● Expert knowledge building robust backend services and REST APIs
● Expertise designing and implementing highly scalable data-intensive processing systems
Nice to Have:
- Clojure or Scala experience
- Bringing new ideas to bare involving future CI/CD initiatives
- Messaging Paradigms

1. Data Engineering
As a Full-Stack Engineer / Data Engineer you will work with our customers using bleeding-edge tech to assist with transitioning to the Cloud using a Streaming Data Platform, making data accessible through various API's (Microservices), or designing and building processing pipelines at scale, to name a few. All of which encompass building production back-end or web systems.
