About this job
What you will be doing
- You'll be integrating the desktop client (C++/C#) with the web application including
- Migration of the persistence code to Web APIs
- Harmonizing the data models of our products
- You'll be maintaining the desktop application including
- Fixing bugs
- Extension of existing features
- Implementation of small new features
- You'll be assigned to redesign and re-engineering projects of old parts of the desktop application
- You'll be working in a Kanban team and one or more project teams
- You’ll work closely with our product managers
- You’ll evaluate and experiment with new technologies and work on architecture decisions
- You help and coach your colleagues

- An annual salary starting at 50.000 euros + a bonus depending on the company success. We're happy to pay more depending on your qualification and experience

About Untis GmbH
At the moment, our main products, a client windows application, a web application and our mobile apps are based upon different technical paradigms. Communication between applications is a challenging issue, because the understanding of the underlying domain model is different in each case.
We seek to bring our applications together by a single domain model and a strong cloud-based approach. This is our main project for the years to come.
We are switching from a monolith-based architecture to a more distributed (service-based) approach for our backend applications. This is a huge task which implies creating a completely new, cutting-edge code base which progressively will substitute the current one.
Solving optimization problems in the cloud
Our expertise in design and implementation of optimization algorithms (school timetable optimization) extends for more than 40 years. Our next generation of algorithms will be cloud-based, so we need to perform major architectural changes to achieve this goal.
