Information Technology Officer Grade 2 (ITO2)
Salary range
ITO1 $64,429 - $74,848 (plus superannuation)
ITO2 $83,137 - $94,830 (plus superannuation)
*Salary rates as of 1 July 2013
ASIO is seeking a Software Developer, ideally with a Computer Science degree. You’ll be working as part of a larger team developing and maintaining large scale data processing systems. You would be involved in the development of a network analysis tool. You’ll be tackling unique problems facing ASIO.
Your tasks will include:
- General software development activities including development of code, unit tests, utility tools.
- Performing testing of software components
- Contributing to overall design and direction of tool
- Contributing to system documentation
Qualifications
A Computer science degree is desirable.
Demonstrated experience with C# development
Demonstrated experience with either C, C++ and Java development (desirable)
Demonstrated understanding of network protocols
The selection panel will determine whether applicants are suitable for the ITO1 or ITO2 level, based on competencies and experience.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and willing to undergo a security clearance process.

ASIO was established in 1949 as Australia's national security intelligence service. ASIO operates under the direction of the Director-General of Security who is responsible to the Attorney-General.
ASIO's role is to identify and investigate threats to security, wherever they arise, and to provide advice to protect Australia, its people and its interests. ASIO's functions are set out in the The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979 (the ASIO Act).
Security is defined in the ASIO Act as espionage, serious threats to Australia's territorial and border integrity, sabotage, politically motivated violence, the promotion of communal violence, attacks on Australia's defence system, and acts of foreign interference. It also includes the carrying out of Australia's responsibilities to any foreign country in relation to threats to security with a particular focus on politically motivated violence.
