Job description
Science Exchange is looking for a senior developer with experience scaling Ruby on Rails applications. While the core of our application is written in Rails, we know that it's not always the best tool for the job. As part of our development team you should be able to determine the best tool for the job.
We work extremely fast and push code often, requiring someone who is comfortable in an environment where speed is equally as important as quality. Given our flat structure, it is imperative that you have the ability determine what needs to be done, whether its been discussed and assigned or not.
Skills & requirements
- Deep knowledge of Ruby on Rails
- Experience with MySQL and tuning SQL queries
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and design, specifically Service Oriented Architecture
- Experience optimizing and building scalable web applications
- Good communication skills necessary, both spoken and written
