Equinox's UI team is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Senior Front-End Web Developer to build cutting-edge, next generation fitness applications for mobile and desktop browsers using the latest JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 web technologies with an emphasis on emotional experiences, elegant UI and an acute attention to scalability and performance.
This is an opportunity to partner closely with our business, product, and UX teams on mission-critical projects aimed at making a significant creative impact for our members. We are looking for someone forward thinking and passionate about inventing and integrating the latest advances in health & wellness technology as a key part of the Equinox fitness experience.
The ideal candidate will be someone who thinks creatively and constantly looks for ways to innovate and improve existing technologies, processes and systems. Additionally, this role will be expected to help coach junior developers on Agile best-practices and coding standards on a fast-growing team.
This is a full-time role based at our 895 Broadway headquarters in the Flatiron District of Manhattan.
Skills & requirements
- Bachelor's degree in CS, Mathematics, Engineering with strong academic record
- 5+ years’ experience working on an agile, test-driven UI software delivery team
- Expertise in JavaScript, Jquery, HTML5, and CSS3 web technologies
- Proven front-end web development experience - we greatly appreciate links to your work!
- Expert level knowledge of Scope, Closures, Hoisting, and AMD (RequireJS) concepts
- Working knowledge of Backbone (Marionette a plus)
- Expert level proficiency in Jquery and Jquery mobile
- Experience using object oriented JavaScript frameworks and JavaScript specific Design Patterns including reveal pattern, module, etc
- JavaScript Unit Testing experience (mocha, jasmine, qunit, etc)
- Knowledge of OO Design Patterns (behavioral, structural, creational) and MVC pattern
- Experience with legacy code, including refactoring and optimization of JavaScript codebase to identify performance issues and JavaScript security concerns
- Experience working in Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and REST API
- Experience with open source efforts, NodeJS and knowledge/participation in ES6 (standards definition for next version of JavaScript) a plus
