‘BigLoop & Advanced Systems’ is a division of CARIAD SE that holds the E2E responsibility for unifying all activities across domains to accelerate VW Group’s shift towards data driven development (D3). The overarching goal is to build one holistic data system, which encompasses existing systems across domains as well as brands within the VW Group. We adopt a development practice of DevOps and SRE while constructing CARIAD SE's next-gen big-data system. Our multi-national team of engineers is leveraging computer vision, big data, simulations, and high-performance computing to design our own software system for CARIAD’s customer features, such as autonomous driving. WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design, own and develop highly scalable and available services for data ingestion and data processing
• Provide an infrastructure and backend system for large-scale data sets, which is of utmost importance for the training of automated driving functions
• Design the systems’ quality control and data validation
• Analyze and improve existing data sources and metrics
• Continuously improve efficiency by automating the labeling workflows
• Develop novel approaches to continuously measure and improve the quality of the data sets
• Design and implement backend services and tools that handle fleet data collection, batch processing, training, simulation, and evaluation based on real-world sensor data

WHO YOU ARE

• Master's degree in computer science, mathematics or a similar quantitative area with outstanding grades
• 5+ years of experience with data modelling and data engineering for data- and compute-intensive applications (incl. Persistent Layer Technology and MLOps) including cloud provider technology (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• 5+ years of experience as a tech lead, significantly contributing in overarching system design and SW architecture matters
• 4+ years of experience with databases (e.g. Cassandra, InfluxDB, MongoDB etc. but the capability to adapt to new technologies is more important)
• 4+ years of experience with distributed persistent layer technology for data- and compute-intensive applications
• 3+ years of experience with security for data- and compute-
  intensive applications
• Working proficiency in batch and streaming technology, OLAP technologies as well as familiarity with modern DevOps practices
• Outstanding documentation and systems debugging skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English
• Can-do attitude is a must
