Job description
We are seeking an innovative and passionate Engineering Team Lead who would love to work at a well funded startup in Downtown Chicago. The Engineering Team Lead is responsible for successfully designing and developing world class products in the voice based marketing space. The role will be responsible for leading a small team of engineers in the design and development of products and features. This role will work closely with Product Managers, Developers, QA and Operations teams. The Engineering Team Lead will have ownership of the technical solution from end to end, which will require both working with business/product on defining and building user stories as well as delivering them. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team lead for a small team of developers
- Experience building full-stack, complex, efficient PHP applications
- Scrum master for team sprints
- Technical ownership of products and features including defining technical architecture
- Hands on development in a lead/developer role
- Institute technology and development best practices
- Mentor both junior and senior engineers though training, code reviews and day to day interactions
- Work with product owners and business owners to help define technical requirements
- Keeping up to speed with fast paced technical landscape and recommending/implementing new technologies where applicable
Skills & requirements
- 5 to 10 years experience with 3+ years acting as a team lead
- Understanding of Agile practices, preferably with scrum and acted as a scrum master before
- Lead small development teams of 3 or more developers
- Experience with RDB design, ability to write efficient SQL queries and strong understanding of relational database principles
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with business units outside of the technology team
- Experience in managing larger complex projects across multiple teams (Dev, QA, Ops etc)
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Detail-oriented individual with the ability to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts, business models, and technologies
- Prior experience in marketing related field is a plus
- BS or MS (preferred) in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
