littleBits is on a mission to put the power of electronics in the hands of everyone, and turn everyone into an inventor. And we are well on our way there. Touted as “LEGO for the iPad generation”, littleBits is a library of modular electronics that snap together to create complex circuits and prototype creative products in no time.
As littleBits continues to grow, we need more muscle in our software engineering team covering our website, e-commerce and backend operations. Our engineering challenges need you to be an expert across the software stack. Our small team size needs you to take the lead with engineering, architecture and the team.
You will be working with a top-notch engineering, design, and product management team, and be part of an organization that breathes innovation.
Responsiblites
- Write high quality code – lots of it.
- Be an expert at web development – especially with the Ruby on Rails framework.
- Mentor team members, monitor code quality, be opinionated and vocal about solid engineering practices.
Skills & requirements
Experience and Skills
- Solid expertise with Ruby on Rails development framework and front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery.
- Experience with associated development tools and frameworks, RSpec, Travis or Jenkins, Capybara, OAuth, and Github.
- Top-notch analytical skills and the ability to break down complex problems into smaller manageable pieces.
- Experience working with product management teams and high-level business requirements.
- 7+ years of overall engineering experience and a degree in Computer Science
Good to have
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Ember.js, Node.js, Backbone.js
- Participation in any open source projects.
- Experience working in start-ups and entrepreneurial mindset.
