JibJab’s talented engineering team has built products that have served laughs to hundreds of millions of people around world over the course of its 15-year history. JibJab is known for the ‘Starring You’ product that allows users to put themselves, family and friends into JibJab videos.
However, this opportunity is for something totally new! JibJab just launched JibJab Messages on October 1st, 2014 (http://msgs.jibjab.com). It’s the future of JibJab and we're looking to build the team for this product. That's where you come in!

What you’ll be doing:
- Working in a very small team dedicated to this new iOS and Android product. You’ll work alongside engineering, product and design to build the product you want to build. You’ll have collaborative ownership over the roadmap and the strategy.
- Opportunity to work on new technologies. Is there a new technology you haven’t used that you want to play with? Go for it!
- Provide assessments and accurate estimates for our weekly sprints (agile environment).
- Work with a passion for what you do. This is a small team so it’s very much a startup within an established company. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about mobile and is curious about the space.

Skills & Requirements
What you’ll need:
- 3+ years of development experience in mobile application architecture, frameworks and development methodologies.
- Proficient programming abilities in Objective-C/Cocoa framework and iPhone/iPad SDK.
- Solid Understanding of Objective-C design patterns such as protocols, target/action and categories. The richer your toolbox for architectural decisions, the better.
- Experience in writing rich GUIs for the iPhone and iPad.
- Experience with consuming web service APIs and technologies (RESTful or otherwise).
- Experience with source control management tools like Git and Subversion.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Core Data schema design and using Core Data contexts in multiple threads.
- Experience with unit and functional testing.
- Experience with In-App Purchases, particularly auto-renewable subscriptions.
- Previous experience with developing applications that are already in the App Store.
- An understanding of OpenGL ES and confidence to dive deep if needed.
- Examples of open source projects (on GitHub or elsewhere).
About the rest of our technology:
- Most of our web applications are built with Ruby on Rails.
- Linux is the primary production operating system, PostgreSQL is our database and software like Memcache, Beanstalk and Unicorn are used to power our website and keep it fast.
- Flash, Flex and other RIA technologies power our media personalization and rendering platform.
- Web technologies such as AJAX, JavaScript, and JSON are essential elements of our site.
