I am adding users to my Liferay site. These users must be able to update the contents of the site, eg. add new pages, web content displays and create all kinds of contents.

I gave the users Power user, Publisher and Writer roles, but with that they can't see the control panel or any other control options like Manage Sites or Add a specific portlet.

What am I missing here? Should I make changes to those roles I mentioned? eg. for Owner role, a user can view and update things; should similar permission specifications be done for these other roles?

  • By Default: Control Panel access is for those who are Admins. Also Manage Sites and Add Portlet are for Admins like Site-admin and Site-owner. But Liferay has a beautiful permissioning system with which you can create a custom role and assign the permissions which you want. – Prakash K Jan 11 '13 at 11:27

    Thanks Prakash. I created a custom role and assigned the required permissions. But seems not to be helping with some of the options. e.g. I can't see the Add and Web Content Desplay option, or Add Page option when log in as one of those users I have created. Any idea why? – Adia Jan 11 '13 at 13:10
