I partly followed the http://android-developers.blogspot.de/2010/07/multithreading-for-performance.html to download Images from a url and display it in a gridview. With a static list it worked alright.

I'm trying to fetch some url form the web by parsing a webpage with jsoup and create my own list of urls. The programm simply crashes on start.

You need to move downloadMangaImages(); method in a background thread. AsyncTask is the best choice for you.

Something like (blind coding):
