Good afternoon,

Just a simple question. Is it possible to make a parent form blurry while you show a new dialog form in winforms? if it's not possible by default, are there any workarounds? here is just a sample picture of what I want to archive: enter image description here

I didn't think this was possible but I found a similar question here: Layer effects (blur, etc.) in WinForms

The code is from an answer over there but I've changed it slightly... You'll need to compile with the unsafe on (see build tab of your project's properties (Allow unsafe code)).

Basicly you put everything in your form in a panel (called panel1 in the code) and call the blur function. I also added an unblur function to go back to normal:

  • Thanks it helped!! but How can I make it more blury? I tried changing the bitmapfilter.gausinganblur(bmp,1) or higher values then 4 but I couldn't get the required blur effect. – Dester Dezzods Jun 22 '13 at 9:27
  • Theoretically you should be able to just add a second bitmap... – Sam Jun 22 '13 at 9:53

    I always get the Screenshot of my IDE instead of the form. Why is that? Aaa ok, when you call the function in the form constructor it will make a screenshot of your current screen, not of the form, that's why I see my C# code as a screenshot :D – Legends Jan 23 '18 at 18:41

this can be achieved through Ajax Modal pop-up extender. which automatically creates a blur background forma. you have to add ajax extender.

i have created a login dialog with help of this on a website. you have to add ajax control toolkit for that
