I get the following error message when trying to plot the subjects at risk along the x-axis in a survplot:

Error in text.default(tt[-1], yy, nri[-1], cex = cex.n.risk, adj = 1) : zero-length 'labels' specified

Any help? I am rather new to survival analysis, and failed to find any explanation of this error. The code in general seems fine, except when I add the n.risk=TRUE option for the plot, the error comes up. Any hint would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

    totalps=0 has only 1 event. the n.risk doesn't like that. Running survplot(KM.Duration.totalps[-1], ...) works as does setting n.risk = FALSE – rawr Jun 27 '14 at 19:23

totalps=0 has only 1 event. the n.risk doesn't like that.

Running survplot(KM.Duration.totalps[-1], ...) works as does setting n.risk = FALSE

Digging deeper into the root of the problem, this line in rms:::survplot.npsurv

text(tt[-1], yy, nri[-1], cex = cex.n.risk, adj = 1)

Your nri for totalps=0 is a vector of length 1, so R is attempting to plot

text(1, 1, integer(0))

Try it and you get the same error. So to remedy that, either use the solutions above (plotting totalps=0 is not very interesting anyway since it will just be a straight line), or you can edit the source code like below, only inserting an if statement near the end of the code will do the trick if (length(nri) > 1)

So now you can use your new function to get the full table/plot without errors (I wouldn't, though, cause as you can see, the label covers up your at risk table)
