So, I'm trying to pass my selected cell to a previous VC, and every time I click any of the rows it will always only send the string "Apples". I'm not sure why. Any ideas? Note: mySelectedCell is a NSString initialized in the .h file of ChoicesTableViewController The .m file that i'm trying to pass the data from

You need to use the same logic that you use incellForRowAtIndexPath in didSelectRowAtIndexPath to get the correct string; you can't just use [self.items objectAtIndex:indexPath.row].
