I'm using ksoap2 to consume a SOAP WS. The only thing I need from the library is to authenticate the envelope and communicate to the WS, the "body" xml is generated from objects using Simple-xml elsewhere.

So, what I need is to put the xml (that has been passed as a string) as a value, but ksoap2 escapes my xml tags with &gt and &lt.

I've searched here and the most similar question I've found is this one which points here (official documentation) which points here (old forum which requires login and may not longer exist). Anyway, I don't want to marshall an object again, my structure is pretty big and it also includes a signature and I have already resolved all that with another library.

So, the actual question: Is there any way in ksoap2-android to avoid escaping xml in a string?

    I think You have to try something different. ksoap2 is using org.xmlpull's interfaced XmlSerializer from beginning to end. XmlSerializer is escaping characters internally. Object is taken from android's XmlPullParserFactory. Leave it - save Your time. – mmprog Jan 23 '15 at 21:57

I've made review of sending "fhateva" in "body" tag of soap request. Ie i think about sending in body, xml that we provide as string. That shall usually be bad idea to do such things, but - sometimes it's really best way to do something ugly but resource efficient - fe. Your xml-string parsing, changing to serializables and serializing seems also not very nice.

Below i've included three classes, that are modifications of SoapSerializationEnvelope, HttpTransportSE and KXmlSerializer. Two of them needed only small changes, that could be added throuh inheriting classes. But needs class HttpTransportSE that is included in ksoap2-android-assembly-3.4.0-jar-with-dependencies becouse of method "getPrefixes". Unfortunately KXmlSerializer hides everyhing what isn't XmlSerializer infarface, so - there You have a bit modified full class from https://code.google.com/r/thibautcastanie-j2objc/source/browse/jre_emul/android/libcore/xml/src/main/java/org/kxml2/io/KXmlSerializer.java that is same or almost same as classes You use programming Android.

I WARN everybody that have to use "that thing" - its real kind of terrorism and try to use it only regarding cost of maintenance that will be set on You or Your collegues. Second side - KXmlSerializer is relatively old and isn't changed very often.
