I have a stored proc like this:

CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[Organisation_Insert]
 @OrganisationXId uniqueidentifier
,@Enabled bit
,@Timezone nvarchar(50)
,@MinimumValue float
,@Rules ReminderRuleType READONLY ...

ReminderRuleType is a user defined type.

In my app I have this:

RuleTableValuedParameters implements SqlMapper.IDynamicParameters which has an AddParameters method.

When I execute the query, the @Rules parameter is never passed (using SQLProfiler). I can also see that AddParameters is never called.

Is this possible to do?

Here's a simplified example based on your code that shows it working just fine; AddParameters is invoked correctly, and the values are conveyed to the stored procedure. As a side note: if you are using DataTable for your TVPs, the library supports that directly with no additional code needed.

  • I see what you did here, and I ended up with much the same solution. What I really wanted was to be able to have a normal POCO with a list property, without having to resort to a DynamicParameter, or at the very least, a DTO POCO with a DyanamicParameter property for the list. – Jonesie Apr 13 '15 at 19:31

  • In your example you are passing obj.Rules - the dynamic parameter - to dapper. I need to pass the Organistion DTO including some properties plus the Rules list. Looking at the source for Dapper I can see that it's branching based on the type of the parameters. To get the dynamic parameter functionality, the parameter needs to be just that - dynamic. Having part of it dynamic wont work. Hope that explains it. – Jonesie Apr 14 '15 at 7:47
  • @Jonesie I probably missed something in your question then - I suspect I saw the ("@Rules", _orgDoc.Rules); and assumed it was part of the dapper call. You don't actually show where you call dapper, so I had to make some guesses... You mentioned that RuleTableValuedParameters implemented the interface, so I assumed that was what you were passing as the parameter - which is: .Rules. – Marc Gravell Apr 14 '15 at 8:03
