I am trying to split off a read-only, heavily used auditing table from the rest of the database. Putting it in a filegroup and seperate file seems the best solution.

However I cannot figure out how to set this up in entity framework, do I need to manually drop and create the table and target the constraints to the filegroup?

Currently I am using migrations to create the database and tables:

If anyone is interested, I ended up doing this in a migration:

    In regard to this solution, its important to note that to use field stream the ADD FILEGROup [AUDIT] will need contains filestream after it. Additionally despite not needing an actual filename, you will need to specify one to use the Path. For example FILENAME = 'F:\' will not work, but FILENAME = 'F:\foo.ndf' will work. If you edit your database however afterwards and look at the properties you will notice that it has ignored the foo.ndf entirely. – jrandomuser Jun 5 '17 at 19:15
