I have a database with two tables Batchstatistics and ReconProcessDateTracker. I want to relationship in between them. I implement this using hibernate using the following model classes:

When I try to save it i am getting the error object references an unsaved transient instance - save the transient instance before flushing: com.usp.entity.TblBatchStatistics

  • I have two more error lines i.e at org.hibernate.engine.internal.ForeignKeys.getEntityIdentifierIfNotUnsaved(ForeignKeys.java:249) at org.hibernate.type.EntityType.getIdentifier(EntityType.java:456) – Arabinda Padhiali Feb 20 '16 at 15:45
  • Also getting the error Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_TblReconProcessDateTracker_TblBatchStatistics". A TransientObjectException will always be thrown if your entity TblReconProcessDateTracker is persisted with a TblBatchStatistics that hasn't already been persisted prior.

In order to solve your problem you either

  1. Make sure that you have persisted your TblBatchStatistics instance prior to attempting to save your TblReconProcessDateTrackerinstance.

  2. Setup association cascading using cascade = { CascaseType.PERSIST, CascadeType.MERGE }. There are other values for cascade you can find here. This basically tells Hibernate that it is acceptable to persist/merge the state of TblBatchStatistics when it attempts to perform either of those two operations on TblReconProcessDateTracker.
