I found an example to set borders on a frameless window, however it's not draggable. How can I make a frameless window draggable? Especially if I can see an example it'll be awesome. Here is my example code(normally the code is longer, that's why there are much libraries just don't mind them);

You need to handle the mouse events yourself.

  • We will need to add an event on mousePressEvent, which will keep the place where we last clicked on the window
  • Then, we will add a mouseMoveEvent, which will calculate the distance between the last clicked point and the current mouse location. We will move the window according to this distance.

    Works great. May I ask are there examples about mouse events like hovering the mouse etc.? There are only about C++ examples and I have trouble to convert them into Python.

    Yes, I know there aren'y many Python examples. I thinking the best way is to understand how to convert the Qt C++ code into Python. It's not as complicated as it seems at the beginning. Commented Jun 9, 2016 at 7:08

  • I was quite surprised when this worked perfectly. I assumed there needed to be some sort of check for if the mouse was pressed. It stumped me for a bit, but for anyone else wondering, I eventually found in the docs that: If mouse tracking is switched off (default), mouse move events only occur if a mouse button is pressed while the mouse is being moved. If mouse tracking is switched on, mouse move events occur even if no mouse button is pressed. So it does half of the work by default. If you need mouse tracking on, then you'll have to change the event handlers a little bit. Commented Dec 22, 2021 at 14:52

Adding to Elad Joseph's answer, the following events need to be updated for PyQt6:

You can use the startSystemResize, startSystemMove functions of QWindow since Qt 5.15, which make things a lot more easier.

Here's the example of how to use it:

            if self._pressToMove:
                self._move()
        return super().mousePressEvent(e)

    window = self.window().windowHandle()

I use both functions to my frameless window below and it works perfectly.
