I have a private sub which uses the function Search.Enabled however on running the sub I receive an error message that the variable is not defined. However it is not a variable and works on other colleagues machines.

I suspect it is a reference or item that has not been enabled in my version of Excel though I have no idea of knowing which item I should be looking to add.

    Sheets("Control").Range("can_search").Calculate
    If Sheets("Control").Range("can_search").Value = 1 Then
        **Search**.Enabled = True
    Else
        Search.Enabled = False

    Search.Enabled isn't part of the Excel object model. Perhaps it is defined in a addin? Do your colleagues have any that you are missing? – David Rushton Jul 5 '16 at 13:37
  • No addins on either version. In the Developer tab Insert ActiveX Controls, on one version Microsoft ListView Control, version 5.0 (SP2) is not available but is in the working version. Could it be this. – user6184786 Jul 5 '16 at 14:15
