I am trying to call the save function of the MPAndroidChart library in order to save a chart I have created. I can create the chart fine but when I try to save the chart the following occurs:

I can see that the problem is the illegal argument exception, but would anyone happen to know why this is being thrown?

I have the permissions in my manifest and I request them upon running as well.

  • You need to provide a code sample otherwise it's hard to tell from just one line. The only thing I can say is to make sure the chart is rendered before trying to save the error your getting is because a bitmap has a height or width of zero. – Ben Jul 21 '16 at 14:43
  • I suspected this is the problem, do you have any recommendations on how to wait until chart is rendered until saving? – cmackie21 Jul 21 '16 at 14:46
  • Hard to say without knowing your workflow. Maybe disable a save button until it's rendered. You could try calling invalidate() before saving. – Ben Jul 21 '16 at 14:48

I have solved the problem by adding a button to my layout which saves the graph when clicked. This makes sure that the graph is fully rendered and attached before attempting to save it to your device.
